From the Word…

I mean, brothers and sisters, the appointed time has grown short; from now on, let even those who have wives be as though they had none, and those who mourn as though they were not mourning, and those who rejoice as though they were not rejoicing, and those who buy as though they had no possessions, and those who deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. For the present form of this world is passing away.

(1 Corinthians 7:29–31 NRSV)

If you have any news or events to go in Anglican e-Life, please email them to communications@anglicanlife.org.nz. 100 words or less preferred.
Please note: For the sake of space you may have to resend items if you wish to have them re-listed.

ALSO, this document will be uploaded to www.anglicanlife.org.nz at the same time that the email is distributed. We hope that this will make it easier for some people to access the information that occasionally becomes garbled in the translation from one computer system to another.

Anglican News & Events – 18 January 2012

News

1. e-Life Distribution dates and altered format

Please note that Anglican e-Life resumes this month with a slightly altered format.

To reduce the amount of information that is included in e-Life each week, we have implemented the following:

(i) notice of an event will appear for one week in the NEWS section of e-Life the week it is received,
(ii) the event will also be listed in the THIS WEEK section on the Wednesday preceding the event, and
(iii) on weeks between (i) and (ii), the event will continue to be listed chronologically in the Coming Events section of the Anglican Life website.

As each week’s e-Life document continues to be available for download from the bottom of the Coming Events section, you have continuing access to information from previous weeks. The Looking Ahead section of e-Life will be discontinued, as these events will be listed as Coming Events on the website.

4. Anglican Life Production Schedule

We are aiming to have Anglican Life delivered on the last Friday of months in which it is printed: 27 January, 30 March, 25 May, 27 July, 28 September, and 30 November. Because of your delivery address is outside greater Christchurch, it is possible that you may receive your magazines on the Saturday or the Monday following, as we have little control over the timing of courier deliveries!

5. World Council of Churches Stewards Programme

Completed application forms are due no later than 15 March 2012.

Young Christians from around the world are invited to apply to the WCC Stewards Programme for a hands-on learning experience at the WCC Central Committee meeting, 23 August – 7 September 2012, in Crete, Greece. Applicants must be between the age of 18-30 years.

During the meetings stewards will work in the areas of worship, conference room, documentation, press office, sound, and other administrative and support tasks. Twenty-five stewards will help to make this event happen.

Before the meetings, stewards follow an ecumenical learning programme which exposes them to the key issues of the ecumenical movement worldwide. The last phase of the stewards programme, following the meeting, focuses on designing ecumenical projects which stewards will implement back home.
