You will see from the attached letter by the Archbishops that they are seeking support to help raise $500,000 for the Marsden Cross Trust Board to build a visitors’ / learning centre at Oihi in the Bay of Islands. It is recognised that Oihi may become a place of pilgrimage, and such a centre can be a place of learning for all New Zealanders. Its construction will help to mark the bi-centennial in 2014 of Samuel Marsden’s first sermon in Aotearoa/New Zealand, preached on Christmas Day 1814.
Standing Committee resolved to commend the appeal to the Diocese. Please share this message with all those who don’t have access to the website.
More than 20,000 people gathered in Hagley Park to remember what was lost in Christchurch one year ago - and to imagine a Christchurch of tomorrow.
