(i) CERA
· Submissions for consideration in the 1st draft of the recovery strategy plan in Christchurch (outside the CBD), Selwyn and Waimakariri Districts are due in
). These can be done online at www.cera.govt.nz or by mailing (free) a submission form available from your local Council office or public library. Their 3 key questions:
* What is your vision for the recovery of greater Christchurch?
* What are the priorities for recovery in the next/two/three/five years?
* How can everyone work together towards recovery?
· CERA Expo: ‘My housing options’ being held July 30 (12-6pm) and 31st (10-4pm) at Addington Raceway as a ‘one stop shop’ for residents affected by land decisions to be able to talk to Govt agencies, local authorities, insurance companies, Real Estate Institute, banks, architects, designers: also seminars will be held on ‘Building a house and renting property’; ‘Buying a house/property’; ‘Organising your insurance.’
· CERA’s Public Forum on Insurance will be held on July 19 @5.30pm at Middleton Grange School
· July 31: deadline for property owners in red zone to return their consent forms about their properties to CERA (consent to receive info abt their property and talk to EQC and their insurer abt their situation so the Govt purchase can be put together)

· CERA named 38 Community Forum members on June 26 (names listed www.cera.govt.nz.news-community-forum-membersannounced-25-June-2011. They met for the first time on July 7 and are required to meet at least six times a year. Are any members known to have committed church affiliations?

(iii) Free lectures on EQs are being offered at the University of Canterbury from July 27-August 31 @ 7-8.30pm in Lecture Theatres C2/C3, covering geology, seismology, liquefaction, rock fall, performance of concrete/timber buildings, and the psychology of the mind behind EQs. Space limited, need to enrol for individual lectures/series at www.communityed.canterbury.ac.nz
(iv) Canterbury Earthquake Temporary Accommodation Service
ph. 0800 673 227; www.quakeaccommodation.govt.nz; or visit a CETAS office located in Aranui, Beckenham, Hornby, Kaiapoi, Linwood, Lyttelton, Mairehau, North New Brighton, Riccarton.
· Temporary villages of unfurnished portable homes have been/are being built for those displaced by the EQs (as homes abandoned, being repaired or rebuilt) at
(41 units with 2-4 bedrooms available from end of July),
(up to 80 units available August),
(22 units of 1-3 bedrooms, already in use) and a site to be chosen in Burwood. Register online, by phone or through an office. (Housing NZ tenants should contact Housing NZ at 0800 801 601). These units are available for up to two years and come with weekly rentals from $190-$423, plus pay for use of utility services. Villages are to include a community hall/space, village supervisor and playground.
· 65 (or 300?) campervans are available at Canterbury Park A&P grounds until August at a weekly rent of $190 for 2 people to $337 for 6 people (only 2 tenants at present?)
· Temporary Accommodation Assistance is available (see website).
· Offers of temporary rental accommodation can be lodged online if you can offer a displaced person/family a spare room in your home, a fully equipped sleepout, holiday home, rental property, large motel unit or empty house

(v) Quake stories: Christchurch City Libraries are calling for unofficial personal/community stories and material incl. photos, videos, documents and memorabilia to create an EQ archive to help future generations understand the region’s ‘historic turning point.’ www.ccc.govt.nz
(vi) Christchurch Earthquake Appeal has received $90 million since Feb 22 and is supporting five new projects: establishing free temporary accommodation for community NGOs; pop-up infrastructure for central city retailers; assistance for Women’s Refuge; an arts programme for school pupils; and a mixed use facility for children in the eastern suburbs. Details in process.
(vii) Respite accommodation (in various forms) is being offered by parishioners in the Anglican Diocese of Wellington for those needing an EQ break. Contact: Archdeacon Danny Te Hiko, ph 04 471 8593
(viii) Containers for storage: standard 6 m. (20 ft) can be hired for about $30 a week or at least $1,800 to buy – other rates for 3 m. (10 ft) and 12 m (40ft) . Further details: 0800 660 117 (Spacewise), www.maerskline.com, and other websites
(ix) Free art classes for stress relief at Settlers Heath Centre, Ferrymead from 27 July-17 August from 10-12. Enrol: ph 963 1606

The Christchurch City Council has asked for an "immediate pause" in the demolition of ChristChurch Cathedral.
