TC3 Residents Group has called for action at a mass rally this Monday outside Christchurch City Council, Worcester Street. TC3 is land zoned blue/green. The CERA definition of this category is "Moderate to significant land damage from liquefaction is possible in future significant earthquakes. Site-specific geotechnical investigation and specific engineering foundation design is required."
"It took 100 days to build the temporary stadium and 100 days to plan the whole of the new central business district, while for 100 weeks (23 months) 28,000 TC3 homeowners have had only a trickle of repairs made to the most damaged homes in the city. In May only 60 building consents were issued for TC3 homes. At this rate they won’t be waiting the 5-7 years as they have been told by EQC and their insurance companies but more like decades! says Rev Mike Coleman of WeCan!
“It is difficult to understand the importance placed on a roof for a stadium when the roof over our own head is so uncertain. Why cannot the suburban recovery take place at a rate that parallels that of the CBD? This is not fair or right." says Kiri Hider from the TC3 Residents Group.
The rally will start at 5.30pm Christchurch City Council Building, Worcester Street entry, Monday 30 July.
