Anglican Care South Canterbury Opens New Facility in Timaru

23 Aug 2012

An appreciative crowd of more than 60 people gathered on a sunny August morning to witness the blessing and opening of Anglican Care South Canterbury's new building.

In the words of ACSC Divisional Committee Chair, the Rev'd Nick Mountfort, "The new building is all we had hoped for and more". The agency has moved twice this year: a hurried pack-up and move into temporary premises because of adverse Engineer's reports on the safety of ACSC's Arthur Street location, and then the settling into a new site at 9A Dee Street, which was refitted ahead of schedule.

"We have been blessed in many practical ways...to achieve what we would have to say is an excellent all-round transition of space into very professional, yet approachable looking offices", said Gwenda Kendrew, Divisional Manager for ACSC. "We have worked hard to create an environment that offers clients and staff discreet, private spaces, yet with ample room for all, and allowing some potential for growth. The light, warm rooms are welcoming and already we have been pleased to hear words of pleasure and gratitude from clients whom we are privileged to meet with."

Bishop Victoria's blessing of the building, and the people it will house and serve, was followed by an opportunity for those in attendance to view the reception area, offices, and other facilities in the new space, as well as light refreshments.

Anglican Care South Canterbury held its Annual General Meeting at St John's Parish Hall, Wai-iti Rd, in the afternoon.

A public open house was also held at the ACSC building later in the day for the general public to view the new facilities.
