Incorrect Insurance Story on Anglican Churches

There is currently a story on the Christchurch Press website that suggests there will be a call at the General Synod of the Anglican Church in Nadi, Fiji, for churches to be sold due to rising insurance costs. The topic has been in the media previously.

The story is incorrect, as while insurance costs are an issue for churches and the wider community to work through, there are different options to consider and so it is premature to make this call at this time. Also importantly, the General Synod as a body, does not have the ability to make such a call for churches to be sold.
