Honouring the Sacred Rhythm of Our Days

20 February, 4:00 pm24 February, 2:00 pm NZDT

A four-day guided residential Women’s Retreat at Bethesda Lodge, En Hakkore Christian Retreat Centre, Waipiata, near Ranfurly, Aotearoa, New Zealand.

4pm on Thursday 20 February to 2pm on Monday 24 February 2025.

Hilary Oxford Smith and Anneloes de Groot invite you on a guided retreat in Central Otago, a beautiful land of vast skies, rugged mountains, and green valleys. Bethesda Lodge offers breathtaking panoramic views of the landscape.

In her classic book seven sacred pauses: Living Mindfully Through the Hours of the Day, Sister Macrina Wiederkehr OSB invites us to embrace the ancient monastic wisdom of pausing at special times of the day that the earth’s turning offers us.

“Way down underneath all the busyness of our days, something (or is it Someone?) waits for us to come home to who we truly are. All it takes is a simple pause to be in touch with the One who keeps vigil with us—the holy presence of so many names.”

On this retreat, we will make our pilgrimage through each day with a heart for one another. We will give attention and intention to sacred pausing and learn how to integrate this spiritual practice into our everyday lives.

There will be personal reflection and prayer, periods of quietness, music, creativity, dialogue, sharing and exploring the beautiful surroundings that encircle En Hakkore.

The retreat is limited to 12 people.

Cost: $550 per person, which includes:

  • A simple and comfortable single occupancy room for three nights and four days with shared facilities.
  • Full catering: breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.
  • Your personal copy of seven sacred pauses: Living Mindfully Through the Hours of the Day to keep.
  • All creative materials and other resources.
