The Anglican Diocese of Christchurch is a regional jurisdiction within the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and Polynesia.
Our geographical area of work is the central portion of the South Island of New Zealand.
Our Diocese serves the central portion of the South Island which includes the Canterbury and Westland regions along with the Chatham Islands.
Our Bishops
After the Anglican Bishop of New Zealand (George Selwyn) in 1841, the first Bishop of Christchurch was Henry John Chitty Harper in 1856.
